Mel, a dedicated art educator and emerging artist, currently inspires young minds as a specialist art teacher at a public primary school in Queensland. Her passion for design and interiors is evident in her creative endeavors, where she seamlessly blends aesthetics with functionality. Beyond the classroom and studio, Mel is an avid animal enthusiast, often referred to as an ‘animal collector,’ reflecting her deep love for creatures big and small. As the supportive wife of Josh, she brings her artistic flair and nurturing spirit to their shared journey of developing an acreage on the Sunshine Coast.
The purchase of their 10-acre property on the Sunshine Coast came at the end of Mel’s active breast cancer treatment, symbolizing a fresh start for the entire family. This pivotal moment inspired them to pursue their dreams without delay, leading to the creation of their ideal coastal hobby farm.
The name “Jelda” holds deep familial significance for the family. Originally established in 1940 by Josh’s grandparents, the farm was affectionately named “Jelda,” symbolizing “Jean Loves Dave.” By adopting this cherished name for their current property, Josh honors his family’s heritage and pays tribute to his grandparents’ enduring legacy.
